As a man remains in the hospital after a shooting involving federal agents in Stanislaus County, his family and an attorney state they are not receiving updates on his condition. On Tuesday morning, immigration officers fired at Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez while they were along Interstate 5 at Sperry Avenue in the Patterson area. According to Todd Lyons, acting director for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Mendoza Hernandez is undocumented and an alleged gang member wanted for questioning in connection with a murder in El Salvador. However, Mendoza Hernandez's significant other, Cindy, and an attorney representing the family assert that he is not a gang member.
